New Study Links Exercise With Lowered Cancer Risk

This week on Dr. Greg Davis on Medicine the host talks with Steven Moore, a researcher with the NIH's National Cancer Institute about a new study showing that daily physical activity may help you decrease your risk for certain types of cancer.

This week on Dr. Greg Davis on Medicine the host speaks with Glen Mays of the UK College of Public Health, about Kentucky's score in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's 2016 National Health Security Preparedness Index.  The index analyzes the most important health security and emergency preparedness on a state and national level.  Dr. Mays leads the research team at UK in managing the index.

This week Dr. Greg talks with Dr. Dan Conklin, professor of Medicine at the University of Louisville School of  Medicine.  Dr. Conklin has a special interest in the toxic effects of environmental pollutants on cardiovascular disease.   The two discuss the most recent data available on the health effects of e cigarettes and other vaping devices.


This week on Dr. Greg Davis on Medicine the host talks with Gretchen Wells, director of the Women's Heart Health Program at UK's Gill Heart Institute.  Dr. Wells says, despite the growing evidence to the contrary, she still comes across people who think that women don't get heart disease or suffer heart attacks.


This week Dr. Greg speaks with Dr. Jeremiah Martin, surgical director of the UK Markey Cancer Center’s Multidisciplinary Lung Cancer Clinic about a clinical trial testing whether hyperthermia, or heating of the blood, can be used to eradicate lung cancer cells.

This week Dr. Greg talks with Dr. Allan Richards and Ann Christianson, of the University of Kentucky School of Art and Visual Studies about a grant they received to study the effects of visual arts activities on quality of life for people with mild to moderate dementia and their caregivers.

This week Dr. Greg talks with Dr. Tom Kluemper, faculty member in the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.  Dr. Kluemper has a special interest in adult and adolescent orthodontics.  He says it's not just middle-aged, overweight men who contract sleep apnea.  Some young athletic patients are susceptible too, and the reason is the shapes of their chin and jaw.
