Council Again Discussing Domestic Partner Benefits For City Employees

LEXINGTON, Ky.-- The Urban County Council is moving closer to offering domestic partner benefits for city employees.  During Tuesday’s work session Vice Mayor Linda Gorton resurrected the matter which hadn’t even been talked about for a decade.

She told her colleagues that ten years ago, with almost no discussion, Mayor Theresa Isaac inserted domestic partner benefits into her proposed budget and that many council members felt blindsided.  Council members rejected that aspect of the spending plan.
