Blue Grass Airport may be a well-established air travel hub today, but Lexingtonians in 1935 would have been surprised by its location.

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- An investigation is underway, but foul play is not suspected in the death of former Blue Grass Airport Director Michael Gobb whose body was discovered in his apartment on Wednesday.

Gobb stepped down as director of the airport in 2009, following a spending scandal.

He later pled guilty to theft by deception, but was sentenced to probation.

Gobb’s current employer Alan Stein told WKYT TV that he hired Gobb a year and a half ago as a sales executive, to give him a second chance after the scandal.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Blue Grass Airport in Lexington plans to maintain the number of flights to Charlotte, Chicago, and Dallas—at least for now. Service to those cities is provided by US Airways and American Airlines, which announced last week plans to merge in an $11 billion deal.

Blue Grass Airport Seeks Tax Exemption

Sep 26, 2012

LEXINGTON, Ky. - A move to exempt Blue Grass Airport from a tax that funds mandatory sewer improvements has failed.  Officials at Blue Grass Airport believe Lexington should give the facility a tax break.

Travelers at Bluegrass Airport and Louisville International Airport will soon be passing through full body scanners as they board their flights. The new technology will also require some adjustment from passengers, who will be asked to remove not just metallic objects but everything from their pockets.
