Grimes Attacks Obama Administration Over New EPA Coal Regs

FRANKFORT, Ky.-- Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes is attacking the Obama administration for an EPA ruling that she says will cost coal mining jobs in Kentucky.

Grimes, seeking to replace Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, said Friday that she was "deeply disappointed" by the Environmental Protection Agency's decision to impose stricter limits on carbon pollution from new coal-fired power plants.

McConnell Again Invokes War On Coal In Proposing New Jobs Bill

FRANKFORT, Ky.— Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell is calling on Congress to pass legislation to ease federal regulations on coal mining.  He wants Congress to pass a bill he’s dubbed the Saving Coal Jobs Act.

"The first part of the bill would prevent the EPA from regulating carbon on new and existing coal plants, the second would force the EPA to stop stalling on mining permits," McConnell said in a Senate Floor speech Thursday.

Grimes Repeats Call For Higher Minimum Wage

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes is again pushing the idea of raising the minimum wage in order to grow the middle class.

Grimes, a candidate for U.S. Senate in Kentucky, distributed a news release on Tuesday touting what she believes would be the positive effects of increasing the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.

Citing a Kentucky Center for Economic Policy report, Grimes said raising the minimum wage would affect nearly 30 percent of working Kentuckians.

McConnell Attacks Primary Opponent's 'Ed Cred'

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell is accusing his GOP primary challenger of embellishing his educational achievements in the latest TV attack ad of the campaign.

The ad released Tuesday says Matt Bevin falsely claimed to be a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The ad says Bevin never attended MIT.
