FRANKFORT, Ky. -- – Senate President David Williams has raised more than one million dollars for his Kentucky gubernatorial campaign.

So far, David Williams' gubernatorial campaign has raised $1.2 million for the May 17th Republican primary. Since January 1st, his campaign has raised $450,000 and has $670,000 on hand.

Despite a late start, Williams is far outpacing two other Republicans in the race, Bobbie Holsclaw and Phil Moffett. Holsclaw has raised $23,000 and Moffett around $100,000.

Williams waited until November to start raising money in deference to U.S. Senator Rand Paul and other Republicans running in last year's general election.

Gov. Steve Beshear, who has no Democratic primary opposition, has raised $1.2 million this year, for a total of nearly $5 million. Beshear has more than $3 million on hand.
