Voting Machines Inspected

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The voting machines that will be used in Lexington on Election Day have been programmed, and workers spent Wednesday morning verifying serial numbers and making sure the counters are all set to zero. The machines will tally votes for 285 precincts at 161 locations across the city.

“There are a few new precincts; we’ve added machines to account for that. It should be a normal voting process for all voters. The one thing I think they need to know is please go vote,” says Fayette County Clerk Don Blevins.

Voters can plan ahead by checking precinct locations and candidates’ names online at the county clerk's website.

“Using their social security number and date of birth they can get into our system and see exactly what races they can vote on. They can literally see their ballot.”

This year marks the first general election following the redistricting of the Urban County Council. District boundaries are redrawn every ten years to account for population shifts.

Blevins is expecting voter turnout in Lexington to reach between 70 and 80 percent.
