NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The combat missions and uniforms have changed over the generations, but veterans all have a common bond of serving their country and protecting its freedom. That was the message from Brigadier General Howard P. Hunt at Thursday's Veterans Day ceremony at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County.

"Veterans and service members are ordinary men and women who have been defending this nation for over 200 years and performing extraordinary acts of service without regard to hardship or sacrifice. That is what America the nation that she is today."

Veterans from World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, and Iraq and Afghanistan, along with their families, were honored at the Camp Nelson ceremony. Also at the event, a new memorial was unveiled, dedicated to Navy Seabees.
