UofL President Doesn't Offer Resignation As New Board Meets

Associated Press

University of Louisville President James Ramsey has failed to immediately follow through on his pledge to offer his resignation to the school's new governing board.

UofL board of trustees Chairman Junior Bridgeman said Ramsey did not offer his resignation at the new board's first meeting on Wednesday.

Last month, Republican Gov. Matt Bevin disbanded the school's former board and appointed a new board. His actions have drawn a legal challenge from Democratic Attorney General Andy Beshear.

Bridgeman told reporters Wednesday that the new board will decide on Ramsey's status after it reviews the matter more. The board went behind closed doors for more than an hour to discuss personnel matters and potential litigation. Ramsey left as the closed-door meeting continued and walked to his office. A university spokesman said Ramsey would not return to the meeting and would not talk to reporters.
