University Looks To Head Off Unruly Gameday Behavior
LEXINGTON, Ky. - An increased police presence will be visible along Cooper Drive as UK's football team takes on South Carolina this weekend. University spokesperson Jay Blanton says UK president Eli Capilouto has also banned alcohol, DJS, and bands from non-reserved tailgating spots in response to fights that broke out in the wake of UK’s loss to Western Kentucky University September 15th.
"A non-permitted tailgating area along Cooper Drive was, frankly, the site of a lot of drinking and a lot of unruly [and] inappropriate behavior," Blanton says.
No alcohol will be allowed in the area between Sports Center Drive and University Drive. Capilouto said in a statement released Thursday that university will not allow actions and behaviors that threaten the safety of students, fans, or officials.
