Ulis, Murray Pick Up Top Honors In SEC

UK Athletics

Accolades continue to pour in for Kentucky Sophomore guard Tyler Ulis.  In addition to being named a USA Today All American, the coaches in the Southeastern Conference on Tuesday selected the Chicago native, player and defensive player of the year.

At 5-foot-9, Ulis is the shortest player in the history of the award to win SEC Player of the Year.  He’s the eighth Wildcat to receive the honor and the first since Anthony Davis took home the hardware in 2012. Freshman sharpshooter Jamal Murray joined Ulis on the All-SEC First Team, while also earning All-SEC Freshman Team honors.  Ulis and Murray combined for just over 40 points per game for UK, helping the Wildcats earn a share of their 47th regular-season SEC crown.  The Wildcats face either Alabama or Ole Miss in the SEC Tournament Friday night at 7.  The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
