From February 17th to 19th, the University of Kentucky;s Gaines Center for the Humanities will host a symposium focusing on Europe and historical memory.The program will examine how past acts of violence, such as the World Wars and Irish troubles have shaped historical perspectives in the European Union, while several speakers will discuss the issue of recognizing and apologizing for past atrocities, such as the Holocaust and Armenian Genocide.
To discuss the symposium in further detail, Reporter Chase Cavanaugh spoke with Gaines Center Director Phillip Harling and UK History Professor Jeremy Popkin.
