UK Women Avoid The Upset, Top McNeese State 68-62

AMES, Iowa.  The University of Kentucky Women's team struggled mightily but finally put away the Cowgirls of McNeese State 68-62 in the opening round of the NCAA Women's Tournament.

SEC Women's Player of the Year A'dia Mathies spent much of the game on the bench with foul trouble but the Wildcats had just enough in the tank to avoid the upset.

Senior Keyla Snowden led the Big Blue scoring with 11 points.

UK, a number two seed, will play the winner of the Green Bay - Iowa State game on Monday.

If Iowa State prevails it will constitute a home game for the host Cyclones.
