UK Secures 10.5 Million From NIH To Study Obesity's Link To Diabetes And Heart Disease

Lexington, KY – Dr. Lisa Cassis, of the Graduate Center for Nutritional Sciences is leading the research at UK. She says the grant is important to the state because Kentucky ranks in the top 10 in all three categories.

Cassis says the project will involve five junior investigators studying obesity's link to hypertension and heart disease. The University of Louisville has also received an 11.6 million dollar NIH Grant for the same type of study.
