UK Provost Named To Class Of Women Of Distinction By Girl Scouts Of Colorado
University of Kentucky Provost Christine Riordan was recently named to the 2013 class of Women of Distinction, by the Girl Scouts of Colorado.
The Girl Scouts of Colorado annually honors women in top leadership positions in the community, basing the award on the women's achievements as community, business and civic leaders, as well as their support of leadership opportunities for girls.
The provost accepted the award at the "Thin Mint Dinner," in Denver Thursday, Oct. 10. She was one of eight women recognized.
"I'm very honored to receive this award," Riordan said. "The Girl Scouts of America is really a tremendous organization in terms of its values and its commitment to tackle societal issues and promote diversity and inclusiveness. It's mission to advance the welfare of girls, as well as to give girls the opportunity to develop skills needed to thrive, is very close to my heart. It was wonderful to receive recognition from an organization that advocates these values."
