UK Makes Gains In Business College Fundraising
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The University of Kentucky has passed the halfway point in fundraising to expand its business college.
UK President Eli Capilouto said Friday nearly $34 million in private funds has been donated or pledged toward the $65 million project.
The business school's dean, David Blackwell, says nearly 300 donors have contributed.
The goal is to nearly double available space for students, faculty and staff in the building on the Lexington campus.
Construction is expected to begin later this year.
UK's Gatton College of Business and Economics expects a big increase in students entering its programs in coming years.
The project is part of UK's ambitious capital improvement plan. No state tax dollars will be used in any of the projects, which include a new science building and improvements to Commonwealth Stadium.
