UK Holding Auditions for "Grand Night"

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- – Some of the best singers in Lexington will belt out their favorite Broadway or pop song this week as the UK Operate Theatre holds auditions for its 18th annual "It's a Grand Night For Singing." The musical revue will run for six days in June at the Singletary Center.

UK Professor Emeritus Dr. Jim Rodgers says everything about the production is centered around the auditions.

"When we start, we don't know exactly what the program is going to be. We base it on the talent that auditions for us. We actually choose the entire program after we have the auditions."

Don't expect an "American Idol"-style judging panel. Rodgers says the goal is for everyone who auditions to feel welcome.

The "Grand Night" auditions will be held Monday April 5 at 6pm and Tuesday April 6 at 5pm at the Schmidt Vocal Arts Center. Click here for more information.
