Lexington, KY – University of Kentucky journalism professor Buck Ryan directs the Citizen Kentucky Project which is sponsoring the candidate forum Wednesday.

"Well I've been hearing from students and faculty and civic leaders in the community and of course the candidates and their constituents. I think it's going to be a really good show. Each year with our Citizen of Kentucky forums we never know who's going to be there until the event but it always works out as a wonderful civic moment."

Professor Ryan says because democrats currently hold a filibuster proof majority in the U.S. Senate the race to replace Bunning is already drawing national attention.

"We're in a moment when democrats are running not only the White House but also the house and the senate. The question is who is going to replace the republican in Jim Bunning's seat and if it is in fact going to be a republican or a democrat so it's an issue for how the United States is going to move forward."

The forum, designed as a roundtable discussion, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Great Room of the University of Kentucky Margaret I. King Library.
