UK Gets Grant To Study Nuclear Fuel

LEXINGTON, Ky.  -- The University of Kentucky is the recipient of a federal grant that will help train new leaders in nuclear technology.

U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu said in a statement that the $880,523 grant supports the president's plan to keep college affordable and highlight studies in areas of science, technology, engineering and math.

The project at UK will focus on advanced nuclear fuel and fuel cycle technologies.

UK was one of 46 colleges and universities across the nation to receive such an award.
