UK Athletics Partners With Keeneland, Maker's Mark In Fundraiser

UK Athletics

The University of Kentucky plans to expand its student-athlete tutorial center to the campus' south side through a partnership with Keeneland and Maker's Mark that the school hopes will raise $4 million over the next five years.

The university, Keeneland and the Kentucky-based distiller announced the partnership Tuesday at a news conference featuring men's basketball coach John Calipari — who joked that he's still signing special bourbon bottles from a previous fundraiser — and football coach Mark Stoops.

Maker's Mark and Keeneland aim to raise $2 million through contributions and sales of commemorative bourbon bottles, the first of which will feature Wildcats coach Adolph Rupp this spring. The race track also pledged $100,000 toward the Center for Academic and Tutorial Services (CATS) and challenged 19 other companies to match the amount.
