Two Boys Hailed As Lexington's Youngest Heroes

Thursday morning the city of Lexington honored two young boys who are being called heroes.

Surrounded by family and more than a dozen Lexington firefighters, 8-year old Chase Covey and 9-year old Parker Everhard were awarded the Meritorious Civilian Citation for saving 2-year old Jacks Covey. The toddler fell into a swimming pool earlier this summer and the two saved his life. Lexington Fire Chief Kristin Chilton. “They ran around really quickly and saw his (Chase’s) little brother in the swimming pool so he jumped into action and pulled his brother out of the pool and Parker knew to immediately run around, get his grandparents and call 9-1-1 immediately for the firefighters to respond. Because of their immediate action is probably why this little boy is sitting here today.”

The family also thanked the Lexington Fire Department for their quick response. Jacks was also at Thursday’s ceremony. The two-year old clapped and smiled. His family says he has made a full recovery.
