Three People Killed In Early Morning Fire
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Investigators are expected to be on the scene most of the day combing through the charred remains of a house fire on Buckingham Lane in Lexington. The blaze early Wednesday morning claimed three lives. Battalion Chief Ed Davis says the victims were an older couple and their paraplegic son.
“There is a possibility that medical conditions could have hindered their escape from the fire. We don’t know that yet and again we’re investigating that. That will all be a part of the investigation.”
Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn told the Lexington Herald Leader all three of the residents, whose names have not been released, were oxygen-dependent, and oxygen tanks could have factored into the ferocity of the fire.
Meanwhile the fire department’s arson investigation unit, the Lexington Police Department and the state fire marshal’s office are working together to determine the cause of the fire.
