Three Kentucky Colleges Named Best Value
Three of Kentucky’s Private Liberal Arts Colleges break the top 75 list of best values according to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Report.
Berea made the cut at number 63, Transylvania came in at 59 and breaking the top 25 was Centre College at number 22.
Centre President John Roush released a statement saying “The ranking demonstrates what we mean when we say that Centre is a place of high achievement and high opportunity because we believe strongly that quality and affordability are not mutually exclusive.”
The Kiplinger ranking focuses on two areas, with quality accounting or more than half of the overall score and the rest pertaining to cost factors. Berea, Centre and Transy all have an 11-1 student to instructor ratio and all scored high marks for students securing jobs after graduation.
Of the three Kentucky schools…Transy left student with the most amount of post graduation debt…the average was just over 26-thousand. Centre was next with $21,800 in debt. Berea left their graduates with the least amount of out of pocket costs, the average is a little more than seven-thousand.
