FRANKFORT, Ky. -- – Public school teachers and principals across Kentucky have the chance to sound off about working conditions in their district.

It's called the Teaching, Empowering, Leading and Learning Survey, or TELL. From now until March 25, public school teachers and principals across Kentucky can answer the online questionnaire.

"The survey is designed to get their perceptions on how things are going in their schools. And not just academics, but anything from facilities to environment to how much community support the school might have, what kind of professional development and training teachers and principals have," says Kentucky Department of Education spokeswoman Lisa Gross.

Each teacher and principal was given an access code, and the responses will remain anonymous. The survey is administered by a national organization called New Teacher Center. Gross says the group has worked with other states in improving working conditions and teacher effectiveness.

"We are going to use [survey answers] at the state level to get a good sense of how things are going in our school systems. And they can be used at the local level as well by local school officials to help improve working conditions in schools."

Results from the TELL Survey should be ready in June.
