Testing The Waters: City Seeks Input On Lexington Pools

lexingtonky.gov

The first of four town hall meetings focused on the future of Lexington’s pools will be held tonight. The community input will help shape a broader aquatics master plan.

City officials will gather comments both in person at four town hall meetings and online here. Brian Rogers with Lexington Parks and Recreation says two proposals appear to be attracting the most attention.

"It seems about 50/50. A lot of people want an indoor aquatic facility that has both a recreational element and a competitive swimming element. And then there's a huge contingent of the population that would also like to see a massive outdoor water park sort of situation with the tall slides and a lazy river," he says.

Residents will get their first chance to weigh in on those ideas at a 7 p.m. meeting at Southland Christian Church’s Richmond Road location.

Rogers says planners expect to finish the master plan process by January, but will begin budget talks as early as October.
