Tea Partier Moffett Officially Challenging Williams For GOP Nomination For Governor

By Tony McVeigh

Frankfort, KY – Republican Phil Moffett has qualified to run for Kentucky governor. The Louisville businessman and his running mate, Junction City Rep. Mike Harmon, paid their qualifying fees at the State Capitol. Moffett says he's feeling very good about the campaign.

"Even though we've been on the road for four months already, this really makes it official. So, we're looking forward to the next four months. How's the campaign going so far?' It's going very well. Our message is out there. It's resonating. The people are falling in with us and we're getting that support and fundraising has picked up considerably."

Also seeking the Republican gubernatorial nomination is Senate President David Williams and his running mate, Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer. For the Democrats, Gov. Steve Beshear is seeking a second term. His running mate is former Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson.

Independent Gatewood Galbraith is also seeking the office. The filing deadline is Tuesday.
