Summer Arts Residency Program Moving To Centre College
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A summer residency program for some of Kentucky's most promising young arts students has a new home at Centre College. State and campus officials said Tuesday the Kentucky Center Governor's School for the Arts will relocate next summer to the liberal arts college in Danville.
The program has resided at Transylvania University in Lexington for the previous 14 years.
Each summer, the program attracts more than 200 high school students. Their three-week stays include seminars, classes, lectures, workshops and field trips. Instruction is offered in such subjects as dance, drama, music, visual art and creative writing.
The arts education program selected Centre after putting out a request for a host campus for 2014 to 2017. The program is managed by the Kentucky Center, home to many of Louisville's major arts organizations.
