Store Manager Thwarts Robbery

An attempted smash-and-grab robbery of a Lexington pawn shop came to a quick end yesterday when an employee pulled a gun on the suspects.

The incident happened yesterday afternoon at the Castle Pawn Shop on New Circle Road.  Sherelle Roberts, spokesperson with the Lexington Police department said emergency dispatch got the call just after 2:00.  “Three suspects wearing hoodies entered the store, smashed out the glass to a jewelry case in which there were some high priced Rolex watches.  And then they started grabbing watches.  At the time that this was happening the manager, who was armed, was able to basically stop the suspects from doing this.  He got them down on the ground and held them there until our officers arrived.”

The three suspects were arrested and will be charged.  Roberts said police are looking into the possibility that these suspects may have been involved in a similar crime that was committed at Sheila Bayes Fine Jewelers in the Shops at The Lexington Center in March.
