Steve Nunn Pleads Guilty To Murder

By Alan Lytle

Lexington, KY – Former State Lawmaker Steve Nunn has told a judge that he did indeed kill his one-time fiancee Amanda Ross and accepted his punishment in Fayette Circuit Court Tuesday morning.

Judge Pamela Goodwine then sentenced the one-time Republican gubernatorial candidate to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The judge also tacked on 12 months for Nunn's violation of a domestic violence order.

Nunn's trial had been scheduled to begin in August. The guilty plea brings an end to a saga that began with the death of Amanda Ross who was shot outside her Lexington townhome in September, 2009.

Nunn's attorney, Warren Scoville, told the Lexington Herald Leader his client, at the very least, was staring at a manslaughter conviction which would have meant a life sentence anyway. Scoville says the Ross family agreed to the plea deal.
