State Senate President Pro Tem Not Seeking Re-election
FRANKFORT, Ky. - State Senate President Pro Tem Katie Stine won't seek re-election next year in northern Kentucky's 24th District.
The Southgate Republican made that announcement on Monday.
Stine, a staunch conservative best known for her work on legislation to restrict abortion, was first elected in 1994. After 20 years in the position, she said she wants to give someone else a chance to serve.
Stine, the first woman to serve as Senate pro tem, spent much of her time when the Legislature was in session presiding over Senate floor actions.
