State Archives Helps Judd Trace Her Family Roots

By WUKY Staff

Lexington, KY – Eighth Generation Kentuckian Ashley Judd will be featured on the NBC television program "Who Do You Think You Are?" The program follows celebrities to archival libraries and historic sites to search for genealogical information. Her quest began at the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives.

Branch Manager Tim Tingle can't disclose what she found, but he can say the material proved helpful in her journey.

"We can say obviously that she was looking at Kentucky records here at the archives but the production company really wants people to watch the show and find out what she found."

Tingle says family history information is available at the Frankfort Library and requests can be made by email or phone.

"We get probably three or four thousand on site visitors per year in our archives research room and probably eighty percent of those people are doing genealogical research."

"Who Do You Think You Are?" airs tonight at 8 p.m. on WLEX TV.
