Kentucky Frontier Gas LLC is expanding again with the purchase of Public Gas Company.
The Public Service Commission said in a statement that it approved the acquisition, which creates a company that will serve nearly 6,000 customers in eastern Kentucky.
Kentucky Frontier Gas has operated in Kentucky since 2008, when it purchased four small companies. It has expanded through other purchases since then and now operates 11 small natural gas systems that serve customers in nine eastern Kentucky counties. The company has 1,728 customers in Breathitt, Jackson, Lawrence, Lee Magoffin, Morgan and Wolfe counties.
According to the PSC, Kentucky Frontier is paying $1.9 million for the smaller company.
