LEXINGTON, Ky. -- – For several months, motorists have been forced to navigate downtown Lexington and the area near UK's campus without the use of South Limestone between Avenue of Champions and Vine Street.
That will change Friday as traffic re-opens on the roadway around 3 p.m. The project that started last July features ADA-compliant sidewalks, a bike lane, underground utilities, and new sewer lines.
Mayor Jim Newberry's office says the South Limestone overhaul wrapped up ahead of its July 1st deadline.
