Sony’s embattled film “The Interview” will be shown in about 200 theaters nationwide in the coming weeks, and Lexington’s Kentucky Theater could be one of them – that’s depending on negotiations currently underway between the theater and the studio.
Theater manager Fred Mills tells WUKY Sony reached out to them, but it’s unclear if contractual obligations to show Wild and The Imitation Game may rule out showings of the Seth Rogen-directed satire. Mills says it’s possible Sony would agree to allow the Kentucky to schedule special midnight screenings.
One theater in Louisville, Village 8, will be showing the film.
Sony had announced last week that it would pull the film following threats of violence, but reversed course this week after coming under fire from critics of the move.
