Some Lexington Customers Under Boil Water Advisory

A water main break on Leestown Road has reportedly sent employees at Lexington’s Amazon warehouse home on Cyber Monday and led to a boil water advisory for water customers in the area.

LEX18 reported that day shift employees were told to leave early after the break this morning at Leestown and Opportunity Road. Night shift workers are expected to show up for their normal shifts tonight as the warehouse handles the influx on online holiday orders.

Kentucky American Water also issued a precautionary boil water advisory for customers in the Leestown corridor outside New Circle bordered by Leestown, New Circle, Georgetown Road, and Yarnallton Pike.

Officials say effected customers should boil tap water for three minutes before drinking, cooking, or making ice with it. The warning is expected to expire in 36 hours.

Questions are being directed to the water company’s customer service center.
