The Executive Director of the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence is stepping down from his post. Former Fayette County Schools’ Superintendent Stu Silberman says he’s been diagnosed with a rare kidney disease that will eventually require a transplant.
In a news release Tuesday Silberman said the health crisis is the sole reason for his resignation and that he wanted to spend as much time as possible with his family before further complications. Silberman left FCPS four years ago to become Executive Director of the Prichard Committee following the death of its long-time leader, Robert Sexton. Silberman says the Prichard Committee board has begun the search process to find a successor.
