LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky will get a first look at a major motion picture featuring one of history's greatest thoroughbreds. An advance screening of "Secretariat" will be held in Lexington.
"This is a film of course about the famous race horse that won the Triple Crown in 1973, Secretariat. It was filmed in part at Keeneland in Lexington and at Churchill Downs in Louisville. And there will be a special advance screening on October 3 in Lexington at the Kentucky Theatre," says Gil Lawson, spokesman for the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet.
Governor Beshear and the first lady will be on hand for the premiere. Tickets for the October 3 screening start at $125 per person and can be purchased beginning Wednesday at secretariat.com or by calling (502) 893-7997. Walt Disney Studios says "Secretariat" will open in theatres nationwide October 8.
