Second Sunday Bike Rides Resume This Weekend

By WUKY Staff

Lexington, KY – A popular bicycling event resumes this weekend. Second Sunday bike rides grew out of the annual Second Sunday city-wide fitness initiative, which is meant to encourage healthy living.

Event Coordinator Tamara Deckard, with the Downtown Lexington Corporation, says it's a safe way to get more active.

"Everyone of all levels and ages are welcome. It'll start at two, you meet at Cheapside Park right under the pavilion, and the ride will leave at two so you'll want to get there a little bit early to get ready and sign in."

Deckard adds, to bring your helmet. The bike route this weekend includes the Legacy Trail, and the Isaac Murphy Memorial Garden on Midland Avenue. Second Sunday bike rides take place every second Sunday of the month from April through October.
