Talented musicians, vocalists and performers from across the city will be honored for their work at the second annual Lexington Music Awards this Sunday night at the Lyric Theatre.
Event organizer David McLean says if you attended the awards ceremony last year you’ll notice some changes, starting with the addition of a live house band to the mix.
"We wanted that older feel...that sort of Johnny Carson, Doc Severinson, David Letterman, Paul Schaeffer kind of thing," McLean told WUKY.
Fans will also see more onstage pairings, making for some unlikely performing combinations.
"I didn't always like those looking at different award shows, but now I understand why they do that because you've just go so much talent to get onstage," McLean added.
All genres will be represented in categories ranging from country and bluegrass to hip hop and rock.
LEX 18 personalities Bill Meck and Angie Beavin will co-host the ceremony.
The awards will be held at the Lyric Theatre on Sunday night beginning at 6. Additional information is available here.
