Students from across the Fayette County School system were honored Thursday at an Urban County Council meeting. The nearly 150 students were the many winners of this year’s Kentucky American Water Science Fair. Lexington Mayor Jim Gray says the event is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary.
“Coordinated by Fayette County Public Schools, this year’s fair was held on February 6th. More than 650 students in grades 4-12 competed locally," he said.
In addition to receiving certificates for their accomplishments, the students also took part in group photos with the council. They now move on to the regional competition, which will take place at Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School this Saturday.
