Ronald McDonald House Closing For Renovations

Lexington's Ronald McDonald House will be closed to families for 10 weeks start just two days after Christmas for renovations.

The project, budgeted at over $600,000 dollars, will add one room and completely redo the 20 existing rooms. The work on wiring, insulation, ventilation, and plumbing will mean a temporary change services for the families currently staying at the facility and no new applicants will be accepted until the renovations are complete.

Families already staying at the Ronald McDonald House will be housed by the Crown Plaza Hotel, which accepted a negotiated rate for the rooms.

The charity opted for an intensive 10-week renovation over a 32-week piecemeal process that would have left some rooms open.

The renovations will begin December 27.
