Rising Local Star Will Pitch For The Legends

When the Lexington Legends take the field for their first game of the 2014 season, a Kentucky native will be among them.

Right-hander Andrew Edwards of Benton Kentucky pitched for Western Kentucky University and joins the Legends’ roster after a year in the minors.  Edwards has fond memories of Whitaker Bank Ballpark and says he is ready to make more.  “You know it’s pretty cool.  Our state tournament back in high school was held here so it’s been awhile since I’ve been back but you know last year I was in Burlington North Carolina.  It was about nine hours away, this is about three, three and a half so it’s going to be good to have family come in and see me pitch more than once a year.”

Andy Shea, the Legend’s Chief Operations Officer says fans will see a lot of upgrades this season like new audio and visual technology, additional food options and something just for the kids.  “We have a free Kid’s Club this year.  Any kid that registers, it’s 100% free and they still get all the perks and benefits of being in the Kid’s Club.”

The Legend’s take on the West Virginia Power for their first game of the 2014 season.  Game time is 7:05.
