Remembering WEKU's John Hingsbergen

WEKU

Public radio listeners in the bluegrass are mourning the loss of John Hingsbergen, who served as Chief Content Manager for WEKU.

According to a post on the station's website, Hingsbergen passed away suddenly Tuesday evening.

"John was instrumental in the success of WEKU since arriving in 2011 after a career that started in greater Cincinnati. Among the things we'll miss are his passion for radio well done, his commitment to civil discussion as reflected on Eastern Standard, and his dedication to listening to every comment, pro and con, with our listener feedback segments," the post reads.

The station is seeking stories about how John touched the lives of listeners and friends, both personally and professionally, through Facebook and their listener feedback line at 859-622-1657.

Josh James fell in love with college radio at Western Kentucky University's student station, New Rock 92 (now Revolution 91.7). After working as a DJ and program director, he knew he wanted to come home to Lexington and try his hand in public radio.
