Reginald Thomas Is Sworn In As Senator For The 13th District
In front of a packed house at Lexington’s Lyric Theatre, the first African American State Senator took the oath-of-office.
Thomas won a special election held after Senator Kathy Stein retired from the position in order to become a Fayette County Judge. Thomas believes the historical significance of this election cannot be ignored.
Thomas went on to say he was equally “honored and humbled to follow the path of both Ernesto Scorsone and Kathy Stein who also broke barriers of discrimination to further the cause of equity and justice.” The new Democratic Senator heads to Frankfort next Tuesday when the General Assembly convenes in regular session.
