NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – A recount is underway to determine the winner of an election for a central Kentucky city commission. The Jessamine County Board of Elections started recounting the ballots Monday morning for Nicholasville city commission.
Incumbent commissioner Betty Black asked for another tally of the votes after she lost the Nov. 2nd election to fellow incumbent Johnny Collier by one vote. Four people serve on Nicholasville's city commission. A recanvass showed the same results that were produced on election night: Black with 3,741 votes and Collier with 3,742.
Black paid a $4,000 bond to cover the cost of the recount. The procedure could take the Jessamine County Board of Elections as long as three days to complete.
