Kentucky U.S. Senator Rand Paul made the jump to presidential candidate last week – and now he’s making the leap to the comic book page.
Don’t look for the Commonwealth’s junior senator to be battling the Joker or Lex Luthor just yet, but the freshly-minted presidential hopeful will be showing up in comic form when Vancouver-based Bluewater Productions releases the latest in its political biography series, Political Power: Rand Paul.
The cover features a close-up of the GOP candidate with President Obama and Hillary Clinton looking unamused in the background while an image of Ron Paul appears in the clouds above the Capitol.
Bluewater founder Darren Davis says the political-themed comics appeal to a variety of collectors.
"The core is people that just want to know about these people in a different kind of medium. Comic books are kind of a cool, nostalgic thing, so people will pick them up for that. There's also political memorabilia that people will pick them up for, and they're just fun," he says.
Davis says the issues keep to the facts and steer clear of endorsements. Already featured in Bluewater’s back catalog are comics profiling Chris Christie, Joe Biden, and Hillary Clinton.
The Rand Paul issue hits the online shelves Wednesday.
