Pyramid Scheme Case Moved To Kentucky
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The case involving a Lexington company accused of operating a pyramid scheme has been moved from Illinois to Kentucky.
US District Judge John Darrah ordered that the case of Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing be moved to the US District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky Friday. It will now be overseen by Judge Karl Forrester, according to court documents.
Federal officials shut down the company’s operations in January after a case was brought against them by the Federal Trade Commission, and the attorneys general of Kentucky, Illinois, and North Carolina.
Judge Darrah noted that the decisions regarding the business were made in Kentucky, even though the alleged victims are nationwide. Also, all of the defendants and one of the plaintiffs are in the state as well.
