PSC Says Ky. Natural Gas Bills Should Drop
FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Kentucky natural gas users may find some relief this winter. The Kentucky Public Service Commission says natural gas costs at the start of this year's heating season are projected to be lower than any time in the last 10 years.
The PSC says Kentucky customers will likely pay about 12 percent less this November than last for 10,000 cubic feet of natural gas. That amount, including base rates, should average around $85.55.
The commission says about 44 percent of Kentuckians use natural gas to heat their homes. Ten percent use propane, and they will have slightly lower costs this year. Costs will be slightly higher for the 3 percent who heat with fuel oil.
Somewhat higher bills are expected for the 39 percent who use electric heat.
