A proposed distillery in eastern Kentucky is on hold after Whitesburg officials rejected using a downtown building for making and selling alcohol.
Mayor James Wiley Craft says the response at a public debate on Friday prompted city officials to put Colin Fultz's plans on hiatus.
Craft told WYMT-TV in Hazard that folks with the First Baptist Church were among those who opposed it.
Fultz wanted to use a historic building located just steps from main street to draw tourist to the area.
But, the city owns the building. Craft says the city council could eventually revisit the issue.
