Proposed Tax Hike Could Help Keep Schools Safe

Fayette County Public Schools Superintendent Manny Caulk is recommending a property tax increase to fund schools safety. The hike would add five cents for every $100 of property value and create $13.5 million in revenue. The money would be used to add metal detectors and more safety officers and counselors on campuses. The schools board is expected to vote on the measure this Wednesday.
