President's Visit Leads To Interstate Birth

Washington gridlock is one thing, but traffic that was stopped for President Barack Obama's visit to Louisville apparently led to a woman's delivery of a baby boy along Interstate 65.

Dispatchers received a call around 5:15 p.m. EDT Thursday as I-65 was closed to allow the presidential motorcade to travel from the airport to downtown Louisville.

A nurse was also stuck in traffic and helped the mother through the delivery with help from dispatchers. Emergency crews arrived at 5:25 p.m.

The station said the mother and baby were taken to a hospital and were reported to be doing well.
